KPMG is one of Marie Curie’s highest value and most strategic partnerships. Set to raise £1m by Oct 2023, which they are ahead of target for, and having already been extended for a further 12 months, they are keen to deliver a number of financial and non-financial activations.
There are 4 main pillars to the partnership:
- Fundraising: they perform best on large-scale fundraising events, and often organise (or arrange – and fund – organisation through events companies) these themselves. More than one third of all KPMG employees have been involved in large fundraising events for Marie Curie.
- Pro bono: this pillar is key to the partnership success. KPMG are providing services across a range of Marie Curie departments, and have pledged at least 80% of their £500k pro bono budget for next year to Marie Curie. Project management and senior internal stakeholder management is key for this pillar.
- Volunteering: KPMG have doubled the number of volunteering hours since their last charity partnership and this element has helped keep the partner incredibly engaged with Marie Curie’s work. There is a lot of support from Marie Curie’s volunteering team to administer this pillar.
- Thought leadership: this particularly surrounds working with the NHS as palliative care becomes a key focus of the country. You will work closely with the Director of the Policy team on delivering this project.
The role also manages a Philanthropy and Partnerships Coordinator, who assists across the function, although most of their time is dedicated to supporting the KPMG partnership.
