About the role

This is a hugely exciting role in the product development and innovation team at the country’s leading children’s charity. A team of four project managers sit under the Head of Product Development and Innovation to explore new ways of generating revenue for the charity.

As a PM in this team, you will inherit a portfolio of projects to look after, all at different stages in their life cycle, from concept to those that have been signed off and need delivering.

The projects can cover any income stream. Recent projects have included; pandemic response, virtual mass fundraising, expanding commercial income, gaming and interactive entertainment, and schools fundraising.

Ideas for new products come from all round the charity, from the PMs themselves to the Director of Income Generation, the income streams and an income generation committee. Once an idea is cleared to become a project, the PM will develop a taskforce and manage the development of the product from start to finish.

Job description

The role will include:

  • project management of a range of new products for varying income streams;
  • working cross-organisationally to draw on expertise of colleagues to develop the best new products possible;
  • idea generation: both personally and encouraging from colleagues;
  • the full cycle of product development and innovation, from concept to handing over a successful pilot to the income stream.
Person specification

This role would suit someone who:

  • is comfortable with an open brief, and able to look into a broad area and work out where the potential is;
  • wants to use their experience of project management to develop new and exciting products;
  • has strong persuasion and influencing skills to ensure time is put into the ideas they’re working on;
  • has experience of income generation, whether high value, mass participation or individual giving.
