The Lord’s Taverners exists to positively impact the lives of young people facing the challenges of inequality. They work across the UK to provide inclusive and impactful cricket programmes, empowering young people with disabilities and from disadvantaged communities to develop knowledge, skills, capabilities and confidence.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual who will support on delivering exciting events ranging from fundraising lunches to music concerts, to intimate stewardship dinners and drink receptions. You will also support the Head of Major Donors and Special Events in developing and delivering a strong major donor programme to engage new and existing supporters with the fantastic work of the charity.

This is an exciting time to join the charity as they embark on delivering a reenergised programme of events and establishing a sustainable major donor programme. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to learn and develop in a high value fundraising role. Lord’s Taverners are also starting to plan for their 75th anniversary in a few years’ time which will be an important and exciting moment for the charity. There are also lots of opportunities for you to personally see the charity’s work first-hand as they actively encourage their staff to visit the transformative programmes they deliver.

Job description

As Major Donors and Special Events Executive you will:

  • Assist the Head of Major Donors and Special Events and Special Events Manager in the planning, marketing and delivery of their special events programme
  • Source gift-in-kind prizes that can be used for on-the-night fundraising including auctions and raffles
  • Support the development of a pipeline of prospects giving at a significant level, leading on prospect research of HNWIs
  • Deliver consistent and compelling stewardship to build positive and lasting relationships with supporters, members and event attendees
  • Deliver prize fulfilment with great stewardship for prize winners and in-kind donors
  • Undertake a range of administrative tasks and support across Special Events and Major Donors

Person specification

The role would best suit someone with:

  • Ability to be proactive, working as part of a small dynamic team and enthusiastic to support across a variety of tasks
  • Experience and/or enthusiasm for supporting the delivery of special events
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with confidence to engage a wide variety of senior stakeholders – both internal and external
  • Experience and/or understanding of database systems and the importance of strong processes
  • Excellent skills in planning and prioritisation, with ability to work to and meet deadlines
