About Noah's Ark Children's Hospice
Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice helps seriously unwell children and their families make the most of the special time they have together. The majority of babies and children we support are unlikely to reach their 18th birthday.
With talented individuals who share our passion to improve the lives of seriously unwell children and their families, we’re changing the landscape for paediatric palliative care in North and Central London, as well as Hertsmere.

Based in The Ark, a brand new children’s hospice building set on a stunning 7.5-acre nature reserve in Barnet, we work to build an inclusive environment in which everyone, regardless of gender, race, religion, age, or background, can do their best work.
The ARk
Designed by families, for families, The Ark was opened in September 2019 by the Mayor of London. The Ark is a place of light and life, where you will find music, art, play and drama therapy; children blossoming in sensory and soft play rooms; and the only fully accessible playground in London.
Coronavirus forced us to dramatically and rapidly expedite the opening of the In-Patient Unit at The Ark, to relieve the NHS and help our families. We’ve been there for children in acute need, including those at the end of their lives, as well their families who are facing the unimaginable. We are resolutely determined to be there for the children and families relying on us throughout coronavirus, and beyond.
About You
We are looking for an intelligent, expansive thinker with a high level of determination and rigour. You will be able to demonstrate a relentless commitment to self and organisational improvement through your previous fundraising roles, as well as a desire to bring that drive to Noah’s Ark.
You will be an expert relationship builder and communicator to both internal and external audiences, with lots of energy and passion.
You will have excellent time management skills, be able to prioritise effectively, and manage application and reporting schedules efficiently.
You will welcome professional challenge, thrive on responsibility and be able to keep a cool head under pressure.
Needless to say, you will have experience of writing absolutely first-class funding applications that are compelling to read and are presented beautifully.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy lead
- Lead on strategy development for Noah’s Ark’s Trust & Foundation programme, ensuring that the programme is run systematically and efficiently
- Lead on decisions about the type and frequency of communications to trust and foundation supporters
- Manage and plan the trust pipeline of activity and approaches to ensure the charity is on track to meet financial targets in this area
Supporter care
- Develop a supporter stewardship strategy for our existing trust & foundation funders, underpinned by systematic processes and first-class relationship building, engendering trust, long-term passion and regular support
- Support fundraising colleagues with report-writing and less formal updating of non-trust funders
- Work with other fundraising and marcomms team members to innovate the ways we connect with existing trusts supporters, creating integrated supporter journeys across traditional and digital channels
Supporter acquisition
- Drive significant growth of the number of trust and foundations donating to Noah’s Ark, through researching and applying to prospective trust supporters
- Develop cases for support that are presented beautifully and sing from the page - truly bringing Noah’s Ark’s inspiring work to life, ensuring applications are effectively tailored to relevant funders’ grant strategies and preferences
- Initiate and build relationships with supporters via telephone, email, face-to-face meetings, events, and through identifying and utilising peer-to-peer links
Charity-wide liaison
- Be the fundraising team’s key liaison with Noah’s Ark’s care team, obtaining and sharing information about key service updates, data and quotes
- Be the fundraising team’s key liaison with Noah’s Ark’s finance team, to develop accurate service budgets and ‘shopping lists’ of funding opportunities for supporters
Team leadership
- Manage at least one other team member to support the areas overviewed above
- Set, in liaison with the Director of Fundraising & Communications, and your team, objectives, key results and initiatives for your team
- Monitor progress through regular team meetings, 1:1 meetings and appraisals
- Provide support and professional challenge in the development of work plans and projects, with an emphasis on ambitious growth and prioritising areas which will lead to maximum gain
Data management
- Use our database effectively to ensure that trust and foundation application, reporting and stewardship systems and processes are watertight and efficient
- Work in line with legal, ethical and professional standards to ensure that our collection, storage and use of data is compliant with our data protection policy and the law and compliant with The Fundraising Regulator, charity law and the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice
Person specification
Noah's Ark are looking for someone with:
- Experience of leading a trust and foundation programme raising at least £1m per annum (preferably more)
- Raised six-figure gifts and account managed relationships with supporters of this level
- Experience of highly successful relationship building with a portfolio of supporters, including through face-to-face meetings and telephone conversations
- Experience of managing others to deliver exceptional results
- A proven understanding of how best to use a supporter database to aid effective fundraising, including data segmentation and maintaining trust information with high quality data
- Ability to use Word, Publisher or PowerPoint to make formatting edits to template applications and reports
- Knowledge and demonstrable experience of adhering to data handling/GDPR laws and codes of conduct
- Experience of managing expenditure budgets and overseeing their delivery
- Experience of using email software to create email supporter journeys (desirable)
