The Earthshot Prize, which launched globally in October 2020, is the most ambitious and prestigious of its kind, designed to incentivise change and help to repair our planet over the next 10 years.
Taking inspiration from the Moonshot, the Prize is based on 5 ‘Earthshots’, simple but ambitious and universal goals for 2030, focusing on nature, air pollution, oceans, waste and climate. If achieved, they will make life better for all.
Crucial to the mission of the Earthshot Prize are its global network of funders, businesses, NGOs and individuals. They share the Earthshot Prize’s purpose to unleash urgent optimism and action that accelerate eco innovations, celebrate the people and places driving change, and inspire people all over the world to work together to repair the planet.
The Earthshot Prize is funded by donations from philanthropists and charitable organisations including the Aga Khan Development Network, Bloomberg Philanthropies, DP World in partnership with Dubai Expo 2020, the Jack Ma Foundation, Marc and Lynne Benioff, the Paul G Allen Family Foundation, and the Bezos Earth Fund.
The Global Alliance is a network of organisations worldwide which share the ambition to incentivise change and help to repair the planet over the next 10 years.
The three types of partner organisations:
Global Alliance Partners
Global Alliance Partners are non-profit and international organisations committed to the environment and sustainable development.
They bring expertise and global reach and serve as nominating organisations each year.
They don’t provide funds, but partner strategically to drive innovation.
They include globally recognised names like WWF, National Geographic and Global Citizens.
Global Alliance Founding Partners
The Global Alliance Founding Partners are a group of leading global organisations and philanthropists which act as strategic funding partners to the Prize.
There are 15 founding partners, which give £1m per year for three years.
They include some of the world’s biggest foundations, companies, grant-givers and philanthropists
Global Alliance Members
Global Alliance Members are some of the world’s largest and most influential companies and brands.
They implement ambitious changes within their businesses and accelerate winning solutions.
These partners don’t provide funds, but support eco innovation and provide pro bono support.
There are currently 14 founding partners, each giving £1m per year for three years. The ambition for 2023 is to have 18 partners, and there is a well-researched, qualified list of prospects in the pipeline.
To support this growth, further develop the high-value funding strategy and provide the highest level of service to current partners, the Earthshot Prize are recruiting for two new positions: a Head of Partnerships and a Partnerships Operations Manager.
There is significant potential to grow the donor base, maximise existing relationships and further refining case for support for new high-value audiences.
There has never been a better time to join this ambitious, growing team and play key roles in building relationships and raising funds that will support the regeneration of the place we all call home in the next 10 years.
