Appointed Director of Public Income and Engagement

We are looking for an experienced leader to join RNIB as Director of Public Income and Engagement, to work alongside the Chief Income & Engagement Officer and the Public I&E team to drive growth in income.

Whilst the incumbent Director is taking up a promotion in the organisation, you will work with the team leads to deliver on the ACT Now strategy, supporting transformational income growth for RNIB this year and over the next 3-5 years.

You will be have direct responsibility for the Public Income and Engagement teams, including: Individual Giving, Legacy Engagement, Legacy Management, Supporter-led Fundraising, Telephone Marketing, and Supporter Care.

You will play a vital role in developing the strategy to drive transformational growth for the RNIB, empowering and supporting these teams to deliver plans, as well as effectively partnering with other departments across the organisation to embed a legacy fundraising culture within customer and public facing teams.

About the role

As Director of Public Income and Engagement, you will: 

  • Be responsible for around £60m income raised through three key income streams: Individual Giving, Legacy and Supporter-led fundraising
  • Support the Chief Income Officer in building a high performing leadership team and deputise for the Chief I&E Officer as needed
  • Provide strategic leadership and create a solution focused, inclusive and values-based culture, empowering the team to deliver the business plans through coaching, support and challenge
  • Implement and continually develop the Public I&E strategy and business plans to substantially invest in, grow and diversify income and audiences.
  • Effectively partner with departments across the organisation to drive and embed a legacy fundraising culture within customer and public facing teams

About you

Ideal skills and experience: 

  • This is a strategic role within an ever-changing and improving organisation, and so you’ll have significant experience of leading large teams in complex organisations working across varied income streams and be able to keep an eye on the overall vision
  • A deep understanding of the external fundraising environment and in voluntary income
  • You’ll be a confident innovator, with experience of implementing new products and approaches in response to opportunities identified through market analysis
  • As an established leader in your field, you’ll have developed exceptional leadership skills to motivate and empower others to develop themselves and deliver on ambitious targets
