Christian Aid works in over 100 countries around the world, helping people to build better lives for themselves and their communities. Its main areas of work focus on:
  • Emergency relief: providing emergency assistance to people affected by natural disasters, conflict, and other crises.
  • Long-term development: helping people lift themselves out of poverty by providing access to education, healthcare, clean water, and other essential services.
  • Advocacy: campaigning for changes in policies and practices that can help to reduce poverty and inequality.
  • Climate change: working to address the root causes of climate change and to help communities adapt to its impacts. It also works to raise awareness of the issue and to advocate for action on climate change.

Over the past couple of years, Christian Aid have invested in a new brand, launched a climate justice campaign, and have grown voluntary income significantly. Last year they welcomed 6,000 new supporters and had impressive success with campaigns, including their month long ‘United by Hope’ campaign that reached over 27 million people in the UK.

The Individual Giving Lead is a critical role for Christian Aid, the income stream is one of the largest for the charity. The role reports to the Head of Marketing and Fundraising, taking full strategic responsibility for individual giving and will be the IG expert in the department.

About the role

As Individual Giving Lead, you will: 

  • Be responsible for an individual giving programme that has potential to grow further, with current income of £15.5M and expenditure of £2.5M pa
  • Lead and develop a direct team of 3 managers (wider team of 7), ensuring team growth in line with organisational aims
  • Be backed by investment and support of the senior leadership team, to grow the regular giving programme ensuring income growth in line with ambitions
  • Develop supporter journey and retention programmes ensuring excellent stewardship

About you

Ideal skills and experience: 

  • An experienced individual giving expert with demonstrable results and thrives in achieving growth
  • Ideally you will be working at Head level (or equivalent), but applications are also welcome from those looking to develop their career and step up from a senior management level
  • Ability to think strategically and experience of ensuring teams are enabled/supported to achieve
  • Ambitious and results orientated approach
  • Excellent relationship building skills with a collaborative attitude

This role is based in the UK on a homeworking contract or based in Christian Aid’s London office. If London-based, this will require attendance at the office for a min, of 2 days per week with the option to work remotely for the remaining 3 days per week.
