About the organisation/role

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join a successful team of five and develop new business at the five-figure level for a charity that supports young people with disabilities.

The ideal candidate for this role will be proactive and able to keep on top of conversations in the disability space and how this can inform partnerships. They will also be tenacious, able to go after new business and have a background in sales or new business fundraising. Creativity is key in this role, as the successful candidate must find ways to engage panels, boardrooms and staff forces.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to step up into their first leadership role and work for a charity with a fantastic culture, including very flexible working arrangements and weekly mental health and well-being checks. The team is close-knit, fun and friendly, and it is a great atmosphere to work in.

Job description

  • Develop the corporate partnerships portfolio, focusing on securing multi-year, strategic partnerships valued at £20,000+ per annum.
  • Identify new business opportunities and establish key relationships with potential partners, sponsors, and donors.
  • Lead on the development and management of long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Oversee the Business Development Executive and ensure the effective management of the charity’s pipeline of new business opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams across the organisation to ensure that all new business opportunities are aligned with the charity’s strategic priorities and values.

Person specification

  • Proven track record in business development, sales or new business fundraising, ideally within the charity or not-for-profit sector.
  • Strong networking and relationship building skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to identify new business opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver compelling pitches and proposals to a range of audiences.
