A Letter from our Director of Fundraising and Communications

What better charity to work for than the UK’s Charity of the Year? What better team for an exceptional senior fundraising manager to join than the UK’s Fundraising Team of the Year? And what better place to work than in The Ark, our brand new state-of-the-art children’s hospice building, which is set on a stunning 7.5-acre nature reserve?

This is a wonderful opportunity to lead on a key area of fundraising which will enable an improved quality of life for seriously unwell babies, children and young people. As a result of your success you will see more children and their families receive a wider breadth of care, and hear from those beneficiaries about the impact of the funds you have raised.

Noah’s Ark’s fundraising has been overhauled in recent years, with voluntary income growing from £1.7m in 2015 to £6.3m in 2019. Trust and Foundation income has been one of the top two highest yielding income streams every year during that period. Last year over £1.2m was raised from this income source from 69 trusts. It’s a good base on which to build and we’ve come a long way but I know we can go much further still.

That’s where you come in! We need to boost the size of our trust supporter portfolio, increase retention rates and improve the systems underpinning the programme. To achieve this we are looking for an exceptional Head of Trusts & Foundations. This is a newly created role. You will lead on devising a strategy for trust and foundation acquisition and engagement, creating robust systems and processes to ensure that every trust supporter is engaged and stewarded in a way that massively exceeds expectations.

You will have experience of leading, to an outstanding level, a trust fundraising programme, including winning numerous six-figure grants. You will manage at least one team member to help carry out that strategy and play a hands-on role in delivery too.

I am very eager to encourage cross-team working wherever possible. Whilst direct experience of other fundraising areas isn’t a prerequisite, you will have confidence in your ability to add value through collaborative lateral thinking and through supporting other team members with their applications, as well as acting as a key liaison with our care team to obtain latest information about service delivery.

Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice has tripled the number of children supported over the last five years and opened The Ark. However, the current crisis and resultant significant demand for our services has made it clear that the job is far from complete. We have built The Ark, now we must bring it to life. This is your opportunity to join an ambitious, driven and supportive team, working together to bring that dream to fruition.

If you would like an informal conversation before applying, please contact Naomi Carruthers at QuarterFive Recruitment on naomi@quarterfive.co.uk or 07538 576637.

To use the charity’s parlance, I hope to welcome you “aboard The Ark” soon.

With best wishes,

Anthony Hayman
